How The Cove Stays Connected to the Local Community
The Cove may feel like a private paradise, but our serene sanctuary is part of a vibrant community that includes Harbour Island and Spanish Wells.
We support our neighbors through a number of initiatives, with a focus on education, health and wellbeing. Your stay at The Cove helps maintain these partnerships and improves the lives of those who call Eleuthera and its surrounding islands home.
The Cove is a proud sponsor of the Eleuthera Soccer Club, a nonprofit youth organization; the annual Pineapple Festival in Gregory Town; Baark!, a local animal welfare group; and GLO Good x Let Love Rule’s effort to provide free dental care to adults and children in Eleuthera.
Our area schoolchildren are our future, and we have developed a number of relationships to foster their learning and bolster their support systems. We funded a playground and the much-needed addition of air-conditioning in the classrooms at Gregory Town Primary School, while our talented culinary team bakes and donates a flock of Thanksgiving turkeys for the school’s holiday fundraiser. Similarly, we support a number of initiatives organized by the Gregory Town Youth Empowerment Group, a nonprofit that works to empower young people through leadership development and community engagement, including organizing holiday gifts for many of the children.
Part of what makes these efforts so meaningful is that a number of our team members are from Gregory Town themselves. Supporting the youth and local organizations there is not just a gesture of goodwill—it’s personal. It’s about uplifting our own.
Students at the Island School make a number of educational visits to The Cove each year, and we also serve as a sponsor for the environmental-focused academy’s annual fundraiser.
The ocean is also one of our neighbors, and we are committed to maintaining, and even improving, its health. The Cove has partnered with the Perry Institute for Marine Science’s Reef Rescue Network to help restore coral reefs and support ongoing research into marine conservation.
On land, we’ve worked with the Bahamas National Trust and Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve to protect and preserve the lush, native landscapes of our island home.
Working together, we’re making Eleuthera a healthier and even more beautiful place to live and play.
