A Pet-Friendly Resort in The Bahamas
The Cove Eleuthera welcomes well-behaved dogs so you can enjoy paradise together. To ensure comfort for all guests, please review our complete pet guidelines below.
Pet Guidelines
- Dogs 30 lbs or less
- Must be toilet trained, quiet, and have a gentle disposition
- A cleaning fee applies per stay
- Pet beds and bowls available upon request
- Dogs must remain on a lead in all public areas
- Pets are not permitted in the pool, pool area, or restaurants
- Pets may not disturb other guests
- Guests must coordinate with housekeeping to service the room while the pet is out
For Safety
- Housekeeping will not enter a room if a dog is unrestrained
- Service will not be provided if a dog is in the room without the owner and not properly secured
- Missed service due to an unrestrained pet may be rescheduled through the front desk
Bringing a Dog to the Bahamas
Traveling with a pet to The Bahamas requires advance preparation.
Import Permit Required
All dogs — including service animals — must have an approved import permit issued by the Bahamas Ministry of Agriculture, Trade and Industry prior to arrival.
Required Documentation
Guests must travel with:
- Original, up-to-date health records
- Valid rabies vaccination certificate
- Veterinary health certificate issued within 48 hours of travel
- Official Bahamas import permit
Failure to provide proper documentation may result in denied entry.
Service Animal Regulations
- For specialized, task-trained animals, often accredited by Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF), may be over 30 lbs.
- The Bahamas regulates pets and service animals based on documentation
- Airlines require complete documentation and may impose fines (up to $50,000) for noncompliance
Guests are responsible for confirming airline requirements prior to travel.
