Stargazing at The Cove
Limited lights and a wide-open horizon make for ideal Milky Way viewing.
Most of us will never make it to the moon, but that hasn’t diminished mankind’s obsession with galaxies far, far away. Astrotourism—or travel centered around dark skies, stargazing and celestial events—is a growing trend. As more light pollution infiltrates our daily lives, people are seeking out ways to reconnect with the stars and experience awe.
Though we’re not an official Dark Sky community, Eleuthera does feature beautifully dark night skies with wide-open views of the Milky Way. Winter often brings the most dramatic views thanks to the cooler temperatures and clearer, cloud-free nights.
At The Cove, we celebrate the cosmos with two telescopes that can be set up for guests on their private patios and star books to help identify what they’re seeing. Other prime viewing opportunities include Turtle Point, the pool deck or walking along our private coves. Tip: Let your eyes adjust to the darkness, and you’ll see more and more stars twinkle on.
Though the best stargazing occurs when the moon is in a crescent or gibbous phase, a Super Full Moon is coming on December 23, 2026, offering a unique opportunity to experience the island by the light of the moon.
