The Gregory Town Pineapple Festival

Gregory Town is said to produce the sweetest pineapples. Not only can a single pineapple plant live and produce fruit for up to 50 years, but each plant takes about 18 to 24 months to grow its first pineapple, making every harvest worth celebrating.

Gregory Town is the heart of pineapple farming on Eleuthera, and home to most of The Cove’s employees. Years ago, when the island was abundant with pineapples, the community came together to celebrate this iconic fruit with a festival.

As one of the most highly anticipated events on Eleuthera Island, you won’t want to miss The Pineapple Festival. The Cove sponsors the Pineapple Festival as it celebrates our community. Visitors and locals alike gather to celebrate the international symbol of hospitality and the rich history of pineapple farming in the Bahamas.

From June 6-7, you’ll enjoy traditional games, fire dancers, live music from Bahamian artists and more. The festival also features a Junkanoo Parade, a lively street performance filled with vibrant costumes, rhythmic drumming, horns and cowbells – a joyful Bahamian tradition that blends African and Caribbean influences to celebrate community and culture. Guests can also explore arts and crafts, pageants, parades and shop with local vendors whose sales support Eleuthera’s farmers and their families.

This year marks the 36th annual Pineapple Festival. Gregory Town is also home to many of The Cove’s employees and their families, making this a special time to visit.
